Postnatal Care
Delivering a baby is an exhausting and emotional experience. Various physiological changes will happen in your body after giving birth including hormonal and emotional changes. You will continue to need the extra care which you were receiving during your pregnancy to restore you to your pre-pregnancy health.
Post-natal care is very critical and essential in first few days after delivery. Your obstetrician will provide you with guidance about your personal care as well as your baby care. Post-natal care for mothers includes monitoring and appropriate interventions for excessive vaginal bleeding, pain, and signs of infection. You will be guided on breast care, breast feeding, newborn care practices, family planning, exercises & physical activity and also nutrition during breastfeeding. Counselling for health conditions such as post-natal depression is also provided.
Post-natal care for your newborn includes immediate and exclusive breast-feeding, warming of infant, health and hygiene of the umbilical cord, and periodic monitoring for any health issues.
